Basic Phrases in Japanese
Hillo, Oops, I mixed up two words... I meant Hi and Hello. Some basic phrases in Japanese are like English... I think. I asked one of my Japanese classmate and he said that one of the basic phrases was hello: Konnichiwa. Well, obviously that is one because you say that like every hour.
Those basic phrases, (like all other basic phrases) are like english ones.
To make it easier, i will put the English words on one side, and the Japanese ones on the other:
- English Japanese
- Nice to meet you. Hajime mashite
- Excuse me. Sumi Masen
- Please help me Tasukete kudasai
- What is your name? Anata no namae wanan desuka?
- My name is________ Watashi wa ___________ desu
- Can you speak english? Eigo o hanasemasuka?
- Please Do-zo
- I am sorry Gomen Nasai
- You are welcome do itashi mashite
- How are you??? O Genki Desuka (we say it Deska)
- How is the weather today??? Kyōu no tenki wa dōudesu ka? (the line on top of the O means its a long o, like Doodesu)
- What Time is it??? Nannji desuka?
- What did you eat today?? Kyō wa nani o tabemashita ka?
- Did your bunny eat carrots last night? Anata no usagi wa kinouno youru, ninjin wo tabemashitaka?
- Could you show me were the toilets are? Toire wa doko ka oshiete, kudasai.
- Are you sick? Guaiga a watuil desuka. (That is the Polite way... the way you would ask a friend would be like: "Byouki desuka?" That is easier!!!)
